Job Description

Vanguard's mission is to give investors the best chance for investment success. Our Retirement Research team is dedicated to producing industry-leading thought leadership to be at the forefront of creating a better retirement system for all. In this role, you'll help shape that mission through rigorous, data-driven research on how people save, invest, and make retirement decisions—then translate those insights into clear, actionable narratives that influence products, services, and public-policy conversations.
Core Responsibilities:
Plan, lead, and execute research projects related to investor behavior, retirement, household finance, investment advice, and public policy. Assemble and build new data sets, leveraging internal administrative data, third-party and public data sets, survey data, and experimental data. Work with and produce statistical analyses using large data sets in a cloud computing environment. Distill insights into a range of research products including data visualizations, white papers, and short insights. Presents analyses and results internally to Vanguard business partners and externally to industry and policy stakeholders. Become a go-to thought leader on retirement-related research. Work with business partners to answer research questions, including those that inform Vanguard products and services. Develop recommendations on new research topics or methodologies. Actively engage in team wide discussions to define and prioritize the research agenda. Identify, and work together with, academic partners in research collaborations.
What it takes:
Five years related work experience, including four years of research experience. Experience with investment research preferred. Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, data science, or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred. Experience with large administrative data sets. This role is part of our hybrid work model, with Tuesdays through Thursdays required in our Malvern PA offices and Mondays and Fridays remote. While fully remote work is not available, relocation assistance is available for this role. Special Factors Sponsorship Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.
