A User Interface or User Experience (UI / UX) Designer assists with technology design to make products easier for people to use. Determines user preferences and assesses the process that users follow to access product functions; develops and tests new design models, and incorporates findings in to improved product design. Researches the behavior of internet users and consumers, compiles information about the target audience for a site, and develops website layout, design and technology features that improve accessibility and value for users.

Job Description
- Go deep on audience understanding: conduct and synthesize research to build rich mental models of how developers think, work, and adopt agentic tools
- Lead concept design and early-stage framing: ecosystem maps, concept models, user stories, journey frameworks, and experience principles that set the foundation for product direction
- Own and drive the end-to-end design process for major features across the Kiro platform (IDE, CLI, Web, Mobile, and Kiro Crew)
- Shape the UX of agentic workflows including spec-driven development, autonomous mode, parallel agents, hooks, and correctness verification
- Iterate rapidly and prototype at the right fidelity, from paper sketches and concept storyboards to high-fidelity interactive prototypes, choosing the right tools and methods for each challenge
- Design cohesive experiences across desktop, terminal, browser, mobile, and open-source surfaces while respecting the unique interaction paradigms of each
- Partner with product management and engineering to influence strategy through strong design rationale and customer advocacy
- Mentor junior designers and define scalable design patterns that raise the bar across the team About the team You'll join a team of designers and researchers embedded directly in the Kiro product organization.
- 7+ years of design experience
- A portfolio that demonstrates deep audience understanding and early-stage design thinking: concept models, ecosystem maps, user stories, experience frameworks, and how you translate research into design strategy, not just polished final UI
- Experience designing complex, multi-step workflows across multiple platforms or surfaces, with strong information architecture and interaction design skills
- Experience designing for products where AI acts with meaningful autonomy, not just chatbot UI, but systems that plan, execute, and verify work on behalf of users
- Proficiency with multiple prototyping tools and methods, with the judgment to choose the right fidelity and approach for the situation Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing cross platform experiences
- Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
- Experience designing developer tools, IDEs, command-line products, or open-source developer experiences
