General Statement of Duties:
Mount Wachusett Community College seeks a dynamic educator and design professional with comprehensive expertise in graphic design and a specialization in contemporary web and interactive design. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong proficiency across graphic design disciplines and expertise in current web design standards, user-centered design, accessibility, and emerging digital technologies.
PRIMARY TEACHING AREAS
The faculty member will teach courses in web design and development, including planning, wireframing, responsive design, and front-end coding; UI/UX design; social media design and digital campaign strategy; and motion graphics and interactive media. Additional teaching responsibilities include Design Theory, Digital Imaging, Typography, Digital Illustration, Publication Design, and Portfolio Preparation and Production.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE
The ideal candidate will bring extensive professional experience in both graphic and web design, with proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles alongside hands-on experience with UI/UX design and prototyping tools. They will demonstrate a strong command of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices, as well as expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud and current web design platforms. Experience integrating motion graphics and interactive media into digital environments is expected, along with a broad understanding of branding systems across print, digital, and social media. Familiarity with emerging technologies and AI tools as they relate to contemporary design workflows is also desired.
Responsibilities:
Provides classroom instruction in GID and web/interactive design;
Serves on college committees as elected or appointed;
Attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional, and college meetings;
Teaches courses as assigned by the Dean;
Participates in academic advisement for approximately 18 students;
Maintains office hours;
Participates in college service activities (i.e., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.);
Maintains disciplinary expertise;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
BA, MA, MFA, or Ph.D. degree in Graphic Design or a closely related field;
Extensive professional experience in graphic design; A professional portfolio demonstrating web and interactive design work; Knowledge of education methods; Proficient in oral and written communication.
Desired Qualifications:
Two years of teaching experience at the college level. Equivalency Statement

Additional Information:
Salary:
$57,289.00 - $93,048.00 Actual Salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of
MCCC/MTA
commensurate with Education & Experience.
