Job Description
Job Description Walmart is looking for a hands-on Backend Engineer to help build and modernize scalable backend applications and services.
This role will be heavily focused on Rust, with approximately 70-80% of the development work being done in Rust. The engineer will work across the software development lifecycle, helping design, build, test, deploy, and support backend solutions within an Azure-based environment.
The ideal candidate has strong backend development fundamentals, hands-on experience with Rust, and experience building applications in Azure. Walmart is also looking for someone with an AI-centric mindset. They do not need to be an AI/ML engineer, but they should understand how to appropriately leverage generative AI tools within software development and engineering workflows. Skills and Requirements Strong hands-on Rust development experience (70% of the work will be within Rust - if no Rust experience, Java/Golang/C/C++/C#/.NET are applicable - but must be willing to spend time learning Rust during onboarding period)Strong backend/software engineering backgroundExperience building scalable backend applications, services, or systemsHands-on Microsoft Azure experienceExperience building and deploying applications in AzureStrong understanding of the full software development lifecycleExperience with CI/CD pipelinesStrong DevOps mindset, including:
