Position Function:
This position will work as a team member in Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) at Mississippi State University. The Enterprise Front-End Web Developer supports the University community by developing, coordinating, and managing enterprise web sites, applications, and data by providing critical information services to our clients.
Salary Grade:
15 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create training materials and conduct training sessions to guide University content editors and content developers in using best practices to publish content that adheres to the University's policy on web page publications.
  • Assist in the design and development of templates, themes, and code libraries for the EIS web environment.
  • Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions based on analysis, system capabilities and available resources.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and client management skills.
  • Continually upgrade knowledge of and ability to use new tools and technologies.
  • Design and develop web sites and web applications for small and medium size projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Graphic Design or related field AND two years of relevant work experience. Any equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered.
Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and skill interviewing clients to understand their business needs and translate them into software specifications.
  • Work in a team and project driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years' experience working in enterprise systems in the higher education environment.
  • Two years' experience in website design and/or development.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming, using either JavaScript and/or PHP.
  • Experience working with MySQL.
