This is a part-time role for current college students only. The selected candidate may work up to 17 1/2 hours per week. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. The New York City Comptroller's Office works to promote the financial health, integrity, and effectiveness of New York City government, in order to strengthen trust, secure a thriving future for all New Yorkers, and build a more just, equitable, and resilient city. Led by an independently elected citywide official, the comptroller's office provides checks and balances needed to hold City government accountable for budgeting wisely, investing responsibly, operating efficiently, acting fairly, living up to its obligations and promises, and paying attention to the long-term challenges we face together. The Office of the Comptroller's Bureau of Information Systems provides a full range of technology support services for key business functions and Charter mandated responsibilities of the Comptroller's Office. These services include technology strategic planning, web site development, graphic design, disaster recovery, systems development, network administration, audio/visual services, business process re-engineering, change management, program management, security administration, service desk, computer operations, telecommunications, and document management. Under the direction of Senior Website Developer
  • Graphic Designer, the College Aide
  • Web Developer will update various websites and Intranet for Office of NYC Comptroller. They will also develop Interactive Google Charts, monthly and quarterly reports. This role involves working with other Bureaus and hence good communication skills are essential. Great team spirit and ability to learn quickly are equally important. Responsibilities of the College Aide
  • Web Developer include, but are not limited to: Update new content to the Comptroller's Website; Intranet and Audit Committee site using WordPress admin interface.
Knowledge of WordPress core and plugins in a development environment for the Comptroller's website. Create interactive Google Charts from excel charts; customize charts with JavaScript using Google Charts guides. Perform coding on new features using PHP, HTML, CSS and JS within the Bootstrap framework. Facilitate testing of the new code and incorporate the required feedback prior to production. Perform other duties and assignments as may be required.

Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods. Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent administrative and computer skills (Microsoft Suite Products).
  • Solid understanding of HMTL, CSS and JavaScript
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Knowledge of Google Drive, WordPress Bootstrap, jQuery, PHP and Adobe Photoshop.
