Senior Back End Software Engineer Location:
Cambridge, MA / Hybrid (This role requires working in-office 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.) About the role:
EverQuote is seeking a Senior Back End Software Engineer to join our growing team. As a senior engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting, building, and scaling systems that power our core business. You will also play a key role in mentoring fellow engineers, driving technical excellence, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. What you'll do: Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable back-end applications and microservices. Mentor and guide engineers across the team, providing technical insights and helping others unblock complex problems. Partner with product, data, and business teams to translate technical concepts into high-impact products. Help modernize and optimize infrastructure using microservices, containers, and modern automation tools. What you bring to the team: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent hands-on professional experience. 5+ years in a high-growth software product company. Strong background building production-grade applications using server-side languages such as Python, Java, or Go. Familiarity with streaming data platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-native infrastructure (AWS/GCP). Deep experience designing microservices architectures and deploying with Docker and Kubernetes. Experience leveraging modern software tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Codex) to increase productivity and code quality. A passion for knowledge-sharing, code reviews, and helping teammates elevate their technical skills. Comfort using data and key metrics to guide architecture decisions and validate concepts. ________________________________________ The base salary offered for this position is determined by several factors, including the applicant's job-related skills, relevant experience, education or training, and work location. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package may include participation in variable cash bonus programs, equity, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility which are designated by role. The base salary for this full-time hybrid role is $150,700 - $177,300. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary/OTE range for your role during the hiring process.
