Tech Collaborative WordPress Design & Development Internship Part-Time Hybrid Fall 2026 Accepting 1-4 interns Start Your Tech Journey With Us If you are excited about tech but feel like you do not fit the traditional path, this internship was created with you in mind. Maybe you have built a website, played around with design, tried a bit of coding, or love solving problems. If that sounds like you, this is a chance to grow your skills with real support, real projects, and real mentorship.
Internship Details Duration :
15 weeks, part-time, 20 hours/week
Location :
Hybrid, based in the Grand Rapids area
Compensation :
$16 per hour
Program Dates :
August 31, 2026 - December 11, 2026 What You Will Learn and Work On Professional Skills Intro to WordPress and how the CMS works WordPress design, themes, accessibility, and UI/UX basics WordPress development including HTML, CSS, and extending functionality such as using Elementor UX/UI design tools such as Figma, FigJam, and Affinity How to utilize AI tools and strategies within design and development processes Essential Skills You will also get support with: Opportunities to learn, practice, and grow your essential skills through real-world workplace tasks and collaborative projects Interviewing and networking skills Communicating with clients and handling conflict in a healthy way Basic financial literacy and showing up professionally Real Project Experience You will work on websites for real clients, especially community organizations and nonprofits here in West Michigan.
You will:
Collaborate with designers, developers, and your mentor Join team meetings and participate in project reviews Build real portfolio pieces that help you stand out Who We Are Looking For You might be a great fit if you: Have some familiarity with or interest in design or development Are curious, motivated, and excited to learn Want mentorship and experience to help you break into tech Enjoy figuring things out and trying new things Eligibility Requirements To join this internship program, you must: Live in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area Be able to travel to the Tech Collaborative office 10hrs per week. Work 20 hours per week for the full duration of the program. Be on-site Tuesdays (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) and Thursdays (1:00 PM- 4:00PM) plus 4 additional flexible in-office hours.
