Summary Of Responsibilities Creates and maintains web pages and sites using the approved content management system. Uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other related front-end web languages to create and maintain UVU public-and internal-facing websites following University web guidelines and industry web best practices. Works with assigned departments and personnel to provide web assistance, basic maintenance, content management, and technical support. Works with departments to organize and guide projects, such as website builds, by following departmental procedures and guidelines. Ensures that projects stay within timeline, scope, and standard development methods and functionality. Keeps up-to-date on front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery best practices, web accessibility guidelines, web analytics, SEO, and other related skills. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses
/ Certifications A minimum of 1 year of related experience. A High School Diploma, or GED. Experience in front-end web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal. Experience in responsive design and building web pages for multiple browsers and platforms. Experience with web standards and accessibility guidelines. Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and web analytics tools. Proficiency with user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design principles. Proficiency in server-side languages, such as PHP, etc. Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (like Vue.js). Ability to work in an agile development environment. Experience working in cross-functional teams.
Knowledge / Skills
/ Abilities Knowledge Basic knowledge of front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Understanding of content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla. Proficient understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first design principles. Familiarity with web standards, accessibility guidelines, and international web practices. Basic understanding of SEO principles and web analytics tools. Basic knowledge of server-side scripting. Skills Basic proficiency in designing, developing, and managing web pages and websites using front-end web languages and content management systems. Capability to troubleshoot and resolve web development issues. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with software development tools and platforms. Basic understanding of UI/UX design principles to create intuitive and user-friendly web designs. Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technologies. Abilities Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently, to drive web development projects to completion. Communication skills to effectively convey and discuss ideas, manage expectations, and relay technical information to non-technical personnel. Time management and organization skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
