EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Division DescriptionThe Information Technology Services (ITS) Division provides information systems and computer support for employees, customers of the Department of State, and therefore the people of Colorado. Much of the work completed by the division can be done remotely, contributing to the positive work-life balance of its employees. The Colorado Department of State is unique from many state agencies in that we are a smaller agency with an in-house ITS division, as a result our employees maintain greater collective impact over the work product of the Department.

As one of the few state agencies with a fully in-house ITS Division, the Colorado Department of State provides a unique environment where technology leadership directly influences statewide services and supports multiple critical systems for the State of Colorado.

Unit DescriptionThis specific work unit (Web Team) in the ITS Division is responsible for: Reviewing and publishing website content.

Website design and management.

Overseeing accessibility for ITS systems including internal and externally accessible systems managed by ITS for the Department.

Providing updated information on accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2.1 Levels
A & AA, ADA
) to assist all divisions with meeting accessibility standards.

Providing guidance for other divisions and staff members on how they can meet accessibility standards when drafting or providing content for external and internal use.

Supporting DevOps and coordination across teams including development, infrastructure, quality assurance, database, web, and cybersecurity.

Illustration of key duties: As the Web and Accessibility Manager, you will be the valued leader of the Web Team, responsible in ensuring the Department's compliance with accessibility standards. You will be part of a department that continues to be recognized as a leader, both in Colorado and nationally, in multiple areas.
In this role you will:
Supervise the Web Team. Ensure the Department's websites, applications, and other externally and internally facing content releases meet current web standards and are designed to provide the best user experience.

Ensure that the Department website complies with standards and guidelines such as
WCAG 2.1
Levels A & AA. Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of websites, web applications, intranets, documents, and other digital properties and remediate issues.

Develop and oversee the implementation of remediation plans to address identified accessibility issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Provide website development and maintenance of static pages.

Perform dynamic web work.

Create and enforce web standards.

Provide guidance for other divisions and staff members on how they can meet accessibility standards when drafting or providing content for external and internal use.

Position must maintain confidentiality of all confidential and personal identifying information, personnel information, and any other confidential or proprietary information, as well as comply with all State and Department policies regarding professional conduct and professional practices.
