TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Length of position: year-round, 12 months per year
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Information Technology, performs routine (journey-level) web design and development work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Web Administrator is responsible for the development, maintenance, accessibility, security, and overall performance of the School's website. This role ensures that all online content is accurate, compliant with state and federal requirements, user-friendly, and aligned with School communication goals. The Web Administrator collaborates with departments and leadership to support effective communication with families, staff, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage the School's website's structure, navigation, and content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and ease of use. Maintain consistent branding, layout, and design across all School and department web pages. Perform regular audits to identify outdated content, broken links, accessibility issues, and security vulnerabilities. Oversee hosting, website management, SSL certificates, and platform updates. Serve as Electronic Information Resources Accessibility Coordinator (EIRAC) for the campus. Create, edit, and publish web content including announcements, calendars, forms, and multimedia. Support campus and department web editors with training, documentation, and troubleshooting. Ensure timely posting of required public notices (e.g., board agendas, accountability reports, policy updates, weather closures). Ensure all web content meets ADA accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines. Maintain compliance with state and federal requirements for public school websites (e.g., TEA-required postings, ESSA, SPED notices, financial transparency). Conduct periodic accessibility scans and coordinate remediation efforts. Monitor analytics to evaluate site performance, user behavior, and content effectiveness. Work closely with Communications, Technology, and campus leadership to support School initiatives. Serve as the primary point of contact for website-related issues and requests.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide guidance on digital communication best practices. Participate in the campus Social Media Taskforce. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Information Technology, Communications, or related field; or equivalent experience. Experience managing websites using a CMS (e.g., Edlio, Blackboard, Finalsite, SchoolMessenger, WordPress). Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles. Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance requirements. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
Sign Language:
The ultimate required proficiency level for the position using the levels designated in the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) is
INTERMEDIATE.
If hired with a sign language proficiency level below this level, you are required to participate in signed communication learning opportunities on a regular basis until you have achieved the sign language proficiency level assigned to your position.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a K-12 school setting. Fluency with programming languages including HTML, XML, Java, and CSS. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite, and Mac iWork. Experience with graphic design, digital media, or content strategy. Knowledge of data privacy regulations applicable to schools. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES/ABILITIES
Web Technologies:
Extensive knowledge of internet protocols, web server administration (e.g., Apache, IIS, Nginx), and content management systems (CMS) like WordPress or SharePoint.
Programming Languages:
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and scripting languages such as Python, PHP, or PowerShell.
Security & Compliance:
Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG/Section 508), data privacy regulations, and security protocols (SSL/TLS, firewall management).
Infrastructure:
Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, and database management (SQL)
Technical Troubleshooting:
Ability to diagnose and resolve website errors, broken links, and server issues.
Performance Monitoring:
Using monitoring tools to assess system capacity, security, and performance.
Communication:
Clearly explaining complex technical issues to non-technical staff and creating technical documentation.
Content Management:
Organizing, maintaining, and updating web content effectively.
Analytical Reasoning:
Utilizing logic and analysis to identify system weaknesses and develop solutions.
Adaptability:
Quickly learning new web technologies and software.
Project Management:
Managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Attention to
