Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Telemetry Tech performs various functions that support the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. The Telemetry Tech employs effective communication skills in all interactions and when relaying important EKG changes to nursing staff. Maintains competency requirements for EKG interpretation, computer skills associated with the monitoring system, and other job-related functions. Maintains vigilant monitoring to ensure EKG dysrhythmias are reported and documented per policy. This position will routinely perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
Essential Functions:
Monitors patients' heart rhythm patterns in the hospital's special care unit to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment: Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances. Observe the screen of the cardiac monitor and listen for alarms to identify abnormal variations in heart rhythm. Promptly inform the primary care nurse, charge nurses, nurses, or nursing supervisor of variances to initiate the patient's examination. Demonstrate ability to operate the Telemetry equipment office equipment and maintain a safe environment correctly and safely Ensures that all telemetry monitors are logged/accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift. Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific areas of practice Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within the Scope of Practice Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external. Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks. Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter. Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair. Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary. Completes and attends monthly training assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Provides accurate and timely written and verbal communication of clinical information in a manner that is understood by all involved in delivering patient care. Able to listen, understand, problem-solve, and carry out duties to ensure optimal patient care outcomes. Able to use IT systems accurately and proficiently Maintains established departmental policies/procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and technical standards. Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer's and co-worker's time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers.
