Job Description

Applications are now being accepted for the above position in the Community Services Commission, Environmental Services Department - Waterworks Division. Contract position up to 115 working days (approx. 5 months) Duties include : Reporting to Waterworks Supervisor, provide assistance as a member of a crew involved in the maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection system. Performs labour associated with all facets of infrastructure and asset repairs of the water distribution and wastewater collection system, as well as the restoration of repair sites including placing and grading of fill, top soil, sod. Watering and on-going maintenance of sod repairs. Hydrants maintenance and painting. Support promotional and educational works regarding the City's water distribution and wastewater collection system at community event and festivals. Deliver materials, supplies, notices, etc. Perform miscellaneous shop duties, including maintenance of facilities, equipment and vehicles. Assisting with locates requests for municipal underground infrastructure (water, wastewater, storm, street lights and traffic signals) and in-office locate mapping measurements using CCTV records. Operates and maintains departmental equipment and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safe working conditions and their availability to respond to daily activities and emergency situations. Assists in performing labour related to water/wastewater/stormwater preventative maintenance and inspection including operations of hydraulic valve exercising equipment, vacuum excavation equipment and pumps, sanitary sewer flusher operations and sanitary sewer CCTV inspections. Ensures compliance with Health & Safety Act and City's Health and Safety policies. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with College education in the environmental, mechanical, electrical and plumbing field, pursuing an Operator-in-Training License from the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) in either water distribution or wastewater collection. Class G drivers license in good standing, asset to have DZ or higher class and experience with driving with a trailer. Clean drivers abstract as approved by the City (0 demerit points, no more than 1 moving violation and no more than 1 non-moving violation) Must be comfortable talking to general public and have good communication skills. Must be able to work over weekends and statutory holidays as needed.Core Behaviours:
