Oldsmar, FL Position Overview The Thermal Spray Operator is responsible for applying specialized coatings to precision components used in aerospace, defense, medical, and power generation industries. This role offers hands-on training and the opportunity to develop a highly technical skillset in a growing field. You will work on critical components used in spacecraft, fighter jets, missiles, surgical equipment, and other advanced machinery. Training is provided for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities Operate thermal spray systems to apply ceramic, carbide, and metallic coatings Run thermal spray consoles according to established parameters and specifications Load and operate coating material feeders Prepare parts for coating including cleaning, masking, fixturing, and grit blasting Set up tooling and fixtures for proper coating application Operate industrial robotic equipment to apply coatings accurately Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, and technical drawings Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools Measure coating thickness and ensure compliance with specifications Maintain and perform basic repairs on thermal spray equipment Track production status and report issues or deviations to supervisors Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area Required Qualifications Strong interest in learning a technical trade High attention to detail and quality-focused mindset Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Basic mechanical aptitude Preferred Qualifications Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Experience with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) Prior manufacturing, coating, or industrial experience Basic computer skills Technical school or trade certification (or equivalent experience) Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs as needed Use of hands for detailed and repetitive work Comfortable working in an industrial environment Work Environment Manufacturing / industrial coating facility Exposure to specialized equipment, materials, and PPE requirements Safety-focused environment with strict process controls #CLW727Similar remote jobs
