Third Shift Dispatch / Support

BD Transportation, Inc is a family-owned trucking company that is looking for a third shift office support/dispatch person. We were founded in 2000 with 6 employees and 5 tractors - today we have 70 tractors and 120 employees. We operate our office in Piqua 24 hrs Monday through Friday and have an on-call rotation for weekends. The position we are hiring is in the office from midnight to 8am Monday through Friday mornings at our office in Piqua, OH. We would like to start the position in June. We would most likely start training for the first 1 - 2 weeks on first shift (8am to 5pm). Then you would train with the current person on third shift for another week or two until they come onto dayshift. This schedule could be adjusted as needed.

Duties Include:

Respond to customer update requests via email and phone. Update customer websites with load statuses. Send daily dispatches to drivers that start on your shift. Assist drivers with truck and trailer numbers, directions and dispatch questions via email, phone and text. Work within outlook, excel, multiple internal and external websites, McLeod transportation management software. Take some maintenance calls and follow flowcharts/work with our maintenance staff to route the drivers appropriately to repairs or assign alternate units to the drivers. Some availability to cover partial second shift during vacation/emergencies. Scan in paperwork received from drivers and attach to appropriate orders. Eventually go into the weekend on call rotation. Other duties as needed. We are a small office, and the third shift does need to be largely self-sufficient. Our preferred candidate will be very reliable, a self-starter, have some trucking dispatch experience and strong in customer service. Experience with McLeod is a plus. Able to problem solve and think through situations. There is always someone available for escalation and to help; however, as you learn we would hope that you begin to determine the problem solutions as they come up. Dependability and the ability to stay on task without lots of direct supervision is a must. Paid Medical and Dental insurance available. 401k available.
