Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool Designer to join our team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a design professional who thrives on turning concepts into practical, production-ready tooling solutions and collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. As a key contributor to product and process success, you will play a critical role in designing efficient, cost-effective tools that support quality, safety, and productivity on the floor. Duties and responsibilities Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve complex, real-world design challenges related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Selects standard items, such as bushings, bearings, and other hardware, to incorporate into tool design, ensuring efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
Draws preliminary sketches, layouts, and detailed drawings using computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software, delivering precision-driven, production-ready designs that support high-quality manufacturing outcomes.
Modifies tool designs according to trials, tests, and feedback from engineering, logistics, or manufacturing with the objective to improve safety, quality, productivity, and overall operational performance.
Adds details to conceptual designs of tools, jigs, fixtures, carts, and other related equipment, including but not limited to 3D models, 2D prints, BOMs, and materials lists, supporting end-to-end design ownership from concept through implementation.
Coordinates procurement of devices through quoting, bid evaluation, negotiation, and follow-up until successful implementation of the device in production, driving cross-functional collaboration and project execution.
Maintains design data in accordance with Kubota's standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance within a robust engineering environment. Qualifications High School Diploma.
Experience in a production or manufacturing environment is also preferred but not required.
Experience in 3D Cad modeling, 2D drawing detailing, understanding of basic machining and fabrication techniques.
Must have clear written and verbal communication skills with a strong math aptitude and understanding of GD&T Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in manufacturing related Engineering field is an added advantage
2-year Associates Degree preferred or technical drafting certificate. Benefits 401(k) plan with company match
