Job Overview We are seeking a Tooling Operator who will responsible for setting up, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning the specialized tooling components, such as punches and dies used in manufacturing equipment like tablet presses and capsule fillers. They ensure all equipment meets strict Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and safety standards to maintain high-quality production.
Responsibilities Tool Setup & Changeover:
Perform manual tool changes, assemble, and tune manufacturing tools (tablet presses, capsule fillers) in accordance with production schedules.
Maintenance & Repair:
Perform preventative and emergency maintenance, including sharpening, polishing, and minor repairs of dies and punches.
Inspection & QC:
Inspect tools using precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to ensure they meet specifications.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of tool maintenance, inventory, and repairs in compliance with cGMP.
Cleaning:
Clean and sanitize production tools and equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve mechanical issues with tooling to minimize downtime. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; technical training, or associate degree in machining or a related field is preferred. Previous experience as a machinist, tool & die maker, or in pharmaceutical/food manufacturing (specifically solid dose). Familiarity with CNC machines, manual milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders. Strong knowledge of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety protocols. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers). Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. or more.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
