Tractor Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains diesel and gas powered off-road equipment including agricultural tractors, construction equipment, stationary engines, various harvesters, and portable irrigation pumps.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all types of troubleshooting and repairs to powered off-road equipment. This includes gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air systems, A/C systems, and computer systems. Use analyzers and other computer-based software to troubleshoot all aspects of vehicle function. Drive to the field and work independently and complete assigned tasks. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

Must be able to read, write, and speak in English; knowledge of Spanish is desired. Be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics, both electrical and hydraulic, and procedure manuals. Be able to take verbal and written direction from supervisors and effectively communicate back. Be able to complete detailed maintenance reports and other technical documents. Be able to communicate and work with coworkers. Must be able to work as part of a team and independently. Must be observant, organized, and detail oriented. Must function well in a fast-paced environment. Must have desire and ability to learn. Must work in a safe manner following all rules, guidelines, and company policies. Must report to work in a timely manner ready, willing, and able to perform the essential duties.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school/GED equivalent. 1.5 year Diesel Tech School or equivalent desired. diesel tech certification preferred. Valid current California Drivers' license, with less than two points, required before hire and continuously while employed. EPA approved 608 Technician Certification for Air Conditioning, desired.

The employee must be able to occasionally sit, squat, climb, kneel and crawl. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
