Traffic Control Flagger

Blevins Asphalt Construction Co, Inc. now in its fifth generation, still carries the legacy of customer satisfaction, quality materials and workmanship while raising the bar of "industry standard" into the 21st century. Standing on the shoulders of over fifty years' experience, Blevins Asphalt offers material sales and construction services to federal, state, and local municipalities as well as private companies and homeowners in a four state area. Currently, we are looking to hire Traffic Control Personnel /Flaggers . Certified Flaggers will direct traffic through construction (Chip & Seal/Seal Coat) work zones. Experience is a plus, but we will train. MUST be able to stand for long period of time, and be able to work in all weather conditions. This position will require some travel. Applicant must be able to be out of town from Monday-Friday during different periods of time through the working season.

Job Description :

Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task Perform vehicle and equipment checks prior to arriving at work zone in a timely fashion. Be physically able, mentally alert, and capable of giving directions to the motoring public. Use stop/slow paddles to control the flow of traffic and perform lane closures. Communicate with co-workers, customers, staff and the public professionally and effectively. Work as a team to ensure work zone safety and coverage. May work independently or part of a traffic control crew. Guide traffic safely through the work area. Protect the lives of workers. Must be able to safely drive a car and/or pickup guiding traffic through construction zone. Wear approved safety apparel for flagging such as hard hat and safety vest while flagging. Assist construction/paving crew with various duties such as: shoveling and raking. Adhere to all Company Safety and Human Resource policies. Prevailing hourly wages will be paid on all government projects

Qualifications :

Must submit to pre-employment drug screening and background check. Class E Driver's License required with an acceptable Motor vehicle record (MVR). Availability that requires frequent shift and schedule changes. Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Be able to work overtime when required. Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to physically stand long periods of time and use traffic control devices for extended period of times Ability to multitask and stay engaged of your surroundings.

Experience:

Flagging (paving): 1 year preferred, but will train
