We are seeking a Training Specialist to play a vital role in welcoming new hires, strengthening staff skills, and ensuring our workforce is confident, compliant, and mission-ready. In this role, you'll lead engaging training experiences, support staff growth, and collaborate with agency leadership to advance our training programs—all while making a meaningful impact every day.
What You'll Do:
Deliver High-Quality Training Facilitate new hire orientation and staff recertification trainings, ensuring understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and best practices Use a variety of adult-learning techniques to engage participants with diverse educational backgrounds, experiences, and cultures Confidently lead in-person training sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations Support Staff Success Track and maintain accurate records of new hire progress, attendance, participation, and engagement during orientation Provide regular updates to Supervisors and Human Resources to ensure a coordinated training approach and identify needs such as make-up sessions Assist employees with accessing and navigating the Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments and completion requirements Maintain Compliance & Certifications Keep all required instructor certifications current, including: American Red Cross Strategies for Crisis Intervention & Prevention - Revised (SCIP-R) Enhance Training Programs Collaborate with the Training Department to design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs Assist with updating curricula to reflect regulatory changes, best practices, and evolving agency needs Engage & Represent Participate in professional development to stay current in the field Serve as a representative of the Training Department on agency committees and initiatives as assigned Perform other related duties as needed to support agency operationsning classes will include CPR/AED/First Aid, SCIP-R, incident reporting etc. (current certification is not required). Successful candidate will be required to present in a group setting.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting Minimum of two (2) years of teaching, coaching, or training experience Valid New York State driver's license Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating group learning Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assignments
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field Proficiency in
Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day) during training sessions Ability to lift, carry, and transport training materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs), including CPR manikins and training supplies Physically capable of demonstrating CPR techniques, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and AED use Ability to demonstrate and guide staff through crisis intervention techniques (kneeling, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, etc.)
