BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Temporary Transfer Station Attendant is responsible for operating the transfer station facility, coordinating the disposal and transfer of refuse and debris, overseeing the recycling operation, handling computer input, and providing customer service to the public. Work is performed under the general direction of the Station Superintendent in accordance with established procedures and routines. This position is temporary and intended to provide coverage during a period of employee leave. The assignment will not extend beyond August 15, 2026. Employment in this position does not guarantee continued employment beyond that date and may end earlier based on departmental needs.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of office practices and procedures, including departmental rules and regulations Ability to know safety standards and prevent hazards Ability to read, interpret, and understand local, state and federal regulations related to disposal Knowledge of the processes used in the collection and disposal of waste materials Ability to follow instructions and manuals for equipment repair and maintenance Ability to handle tools and equipment with both hands and all fingers Ability to read operator's manuals and work orders Ability to learn the Scale transaction computer program and other computer processes Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesCERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED A
Valid Class C Texas driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving recordENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS
Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months. Some exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noises that are routinely encountered in a trash-collecting environmentTOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
