Job Description

A Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Dispatcher and Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the daily movement of vehicles to ensure patients reach medical appointments safely and on time. This role involves managing complex logistics, real-time routing, and constant communication between healthcare providers, drivers, and patients. Job Summary The NEMT Dispatcher serves as the central hub of operations, balancing advance scheduling with real-time adjustments. You will use specialized NEMT software to optimize routes, assign drivers based on patient mobility needs (e.g., wheelchair or stretcher), and resolve service disruptions such as traffic or vehicle issues.
Key Responsibilities Advanced & Real-Time Scheduling:
Accept trip requests from clients and enter them into dispatch software. Coordinate same-day and urgent trip requests while minimizing passenger wait times.
Driver Coordination:
Assign trips to drivers based on location and vehicle availability. Monitor driver performance and on-time status through GPS tracking tools.
Route Optimization:
Use software to plan efficient routes that maximize vehicle usage and reduce fuel costs. Proactively reroute drivers to avoid traffic accidents or road construction.
Specific Job Duties:
Logistics Coordination & Confirmation :
Strategically confirm next-day transport schedules and manage the acceptance or denial of new trip requests based on vehicle availability and facility capacity.
Patient Liaison & Information Management :
Proactively call patients to gather essential information for upcoming transports, ensuring all documentation and special medical requirements are met.
Real-Time Dispatching :
Use walkie-talkies and other communication tools to maintain constant contact with drivers for trip status updates, identifying and eliminating delays in real-time.
Operational Communication Hub :
Act as the primary point of contact for incoming calls regarding scheduled transports, addressing inquiries from patients, healthcare facilities, and internal staff.
Administrative Support :
Perform miscellaneous administrative calls and maintain accurate records of all transportation activities to ensure organizational efficiency.
Required Qualifications Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or healthcare transportation.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in NEMT software such as Tripmaster, RouteGenie, or similiar. Basic data entry and computer proficiency. is essential.
Soft Skills:
Strong multitasking abilities in high-pressure environments. Excellent problem-solving skills for resolving scheduling conflicts or driver delays.
Pay:
