Job Description

RideWise Inc., a Somerville nonprofit dedicated to promoting safe and sustainable travel is hiring a full-time Transportation Associate to join the team. This entry-level , grant-funded position offers hands-on experience with ridesharing and transit initiatives. Key responsibilities include phone support, verifying transit data, coordinating commuter programs, and learning the Somerset County bus network. This is not a logistics or delivery role. This role offers an excellent entry point for individuals looking to begin a career in the nonprofit sector. The position provides hands-on experience across a variety of activities, with an emphasis on public education and the promotion of public transit and ridesharing .
Responsibilities:
Call and e/mail transportation vendors to verify operating information for the website Coordinate commuter incentive programs (ridesharing, vanpooling, mailing bus schedules, ride subsidies) Assist with in-person transportation presentations; helping with promotion, scheduling, follow-up) Coordinate transit subsidy programs for college students and persons looking for work Learn the Somerset County bus network by riding buses and participating in transit presentations. Teach individuals how to use public transit and ridehailing services by providing one-on-one or group travel instruction.
Work schedule:
This full-time, hourly role is based at the Somerville office, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends, evenings and early mornings required. Overtime is not required.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in education, public health, human services Completing a background check and fingerprinting, if hired Bilingual a plus Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Comfortable making presentations to diverse groups (older adults, high school/college students) Familiarity with local transit services or the ability to learn it independently Demonstrated patience and empathy to effectively teach older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their families or caregivers Having a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, valid vehicle insurance, and a good driving record to get to/from the office and for travel/fieldwork throughout Somerset County Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams) Organizational skills to manage schedules, maintain records, write up reports.
