HAMPSHIRE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Transportation Coordinator
DESCRIPTION
The transportation coordinator's goals include providing safe and efficient transportation to all designated sites so that students may take best advantage of the school's academic and extracurricular program and offering assistance and supervisory help in various administrative assignments.
SUPERVISION
Works under the supervision of the Principal. Evaluated by the Principal or designee.
JOB ENVIRONMENT
Typical school setting (classroom, hallway, cafeteria, etc.) plus driving to and from work place and community access support using the school vehicle.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation Coordinator Schedule and assign all routes for school vans and school van drivers Maintain a log of all safety compliance expectations and regulations Schedule and maintain van inspections, maintenance, and upgrades Train all van drivers for 7D compliance on a monthly basis Coordinate trainings with transportation provider Communicate safety and compliance needs with business manager and principal Van Driver Obey all traffic laws. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school bus type vehicles. Maintain good discipline and positive atmosphere for safe transport of students. Observe and report improper behavior of students to the proper authorities. Maintain a clean vehicle before and after each day's assignment. Report to assigned pickup and drop-off locations promptly and stay on assigned schedule. Transport only authorized students, and discharge students only at authorized stops. Prepare daily and weekly reports of mileage, passenger loads and other data as requested. Perform routine safety inspection of vehicle before each day's assignment. Notify proper authorities in case of breakdown or mechanical failure. Alert the school or destination in case of unanticipated schedule changes or lateness. Report all incidents and accidents and complete required reports. Assume job coach/supervisory responsibilities during unscheduled times. Job Coach Assists professional personnel in instructional assignments for students with special needs in all subjects at all levels Sets up work areas and prepares educational materials Assists students working on individualized and specialized programs Assists both individual and small groups of students in both instructional and social situations within the school setting in a variety of subject areas. General supervision of students as assigned within the school setting, job, and community site. Monitors indoor and outdoor recreational activities Performs appropriate record keeping for assigned tasks such as maintaining student progress records, behavior modification checklists/plans, and developmental profiles. Assists with the evaluation of student progress General Expectations Maintains the trust and confidence of students Works independently with general guidance Maintains cooperative relationships with students and adults Manages time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum high school diploma. Experience working with young people both with and without disabilities. Experience dealing with people with severe disabilities preferred. Complete First Aid and CPR training Preferred Appropriate Commonwealth of Massachusetts license to transport students Excellent driving record; experience preferred Such comparable alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate and acceptable. District CORI Check required before employment begins Federal Fingerprint Check required before employment begins
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good general health. Alert, physically assertive and mobile at all times. Lift, push, or pull 50 pounds as required; Mobility to regularly walk, stand, stoop, reach, bend and occasionally run.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hourly salary, hours determined by Principal School year position, may be extended into the summer to be approved annually
