Summary:

Routing of school buses, scheduling special trips, supervision of drivers and mechanical repair, and maintains and promotes good community relations.

Qualifications :

Valid commercial driver's license with CDL/bus driver endorsement required. Knowledge of school bus traffic laws, safety. Mechanics and routing required.

Responsibilities:

Establish effective relationships with all district staff, parents and the community. Keeps informed of new techniques and operations regarding the transportation department. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff including but not limited to scheduling, work assignments, assessment of work performance, provide assistance and support as needed. Make periodic on-site bus inspection. Involvement in annual bus inspections made by the Michigan State Police inspector. Arrange and conduct periodic bus driver safety meetings. Responsible for preparation of accident reports and notifying central office administration. Secure, train and assign substitute bus drivers. Schedule routine maintenance of buses and supervise bus mechanic. Assist with bus purchase specifications. Investigate parent complaints. Route student discipline concerns through building administrators. Schedule academic and athletic field trips.
