JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a school bus fleet. The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating bus routes, scheduling drivers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and addressing any issues that arise during transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of transportation regulations, and a commitment to providing safe and efficient transportation services for students. This is a 12-month position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement bus routes and schedules to ensure efficient transportation of students
  • Coordinate driver assignments and schedules, including hiring, training, and evaluating drivers
  • Monitor driver performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing school bus transportation
  • Conduct regular inspections of buses to ensure they are in good working condition and meet safety standards
  • Investigate and address complaints or concerns related to transportation services
  • Maintain accurate records of bus routes, driver schedules, and maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and transportation staff to address transportation needs and concerns
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the safety and efficiency of transportation operations
  • Stay informed about changes in transportation regulations and industry best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in transportation management or a related field
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing school bus transportation
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement (preferred)
  • Detail-oriented and able to analyze data to make informed decisions Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Skills, Certifications and Licenses Must maintain a Class B CDL with Air Brake, Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
Must maintain DOT physical and participate in the DOT random drug & Alcohol testing as required by the DOT. Must pass a state and Federal Criminal Background check (fingerprint) as required by METS and the district.
COMPENSATION
Wage/Salary commensurate with experience. Paid time off (holidays, personal days), Insurance options (health, dental & vision) and 401k retirement savings options are available.
