- Responds to all emergencies involving aircraft inbound/outbound and in proximity to the Airport, as required in the Airport Emergency Plan
- Drive specialized fire fighting vehicles with elevated water ways to landing or crash sites on paved and unimproved surfaces
- Applies necessary extinguishing agents and conducts fire suppression in critical areas establishing fire control while performing rescue of victims
- Responsible for other duties of firefighting such as search and rescue, structural fires, vehicular accidents, hazardous materials incidents including fuel spills, and brush fires
- Operates hydraulic and gas-powered rescue equipment and specialty aircraft rescue vehicles as a driver/operator
- Performs monthly fire safety and extinguisher inspections of all Airport Facilities
- Conducts training as required by Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to maintain certifications in Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) and Structural Fire Fighting
- Initiates Incident Command System and may be designated as Incident Commander
- Provides support to the Airport Dispatch Center as a TCOLE authorized/licensed telecommunicator
- Provides emergency medical treatment by responding to all emergency medical calls on, and in proximity to, the Airport
- Assess and provides emergency medical treatment (at Basic Life Support level) to victims in order to save lives and minimize injuries
- Applies dressings and bandaging materials, splints, and backboards; administers oxygen and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and other techniques or equipment as required following approved protocols
- Initiates triage during mass casualty events
- Responsible for all law enforcement services at the Airport including the enforcement of local state, and federal laws and regulations equally, regardless of race, color, creed, or sexual orientation
- Actively patrols and directs patrol (on foot and/or in a vehicle), concentrating on areas controlled by TSA regulations (i.e. security checkpoint, ramps, gates, etc.) and the Aviation Department, to detect, investigate, and deter felony and misdemeanor violations, other misconduct, and possible security violations of local ordinances and federal regulations
- Responsible for the protection of persons and property
- Assists in the preparation of felony and misdemeanor cases for filing charges and testifying in court
- Must be able to respond to personally sensitive calls such as child custody, missing persons, or domestic violence
- Arrests and detains suspects by employing the level of force necessary to control individuals in warranted circumstances, handcuffing, and searching individuals, advising individuals of their Miranda rights when required, completing the necessary reports, and transporting to the appropriate detention facility
- Interacts and works with passengers and other employees in a team and on an individual basis
- Complies with all training requirements to maintain Texas Peace Officer license
- Assumes the role of Incident Commander for emergency incidents and mass casualty events such as Active Shooter until relieved by a higher-ranking officer
- Conducts continuous surveillance inspections and monitors airfield construction projects for safety and compliance
- Conducts escorts in the aircraft operations area
- Conducts quarterly safety and fire inspection of fuel farms and vehicles to insure

compliance- Designated as essential for natural disasters and is part of the post incident response team
- Interacts with the general public through tours and other outreach programs
- Conducts training and participates in ARFF Academies as an instructor
- Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

- Full-Time Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience Licenses and Certifications Required A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Required Within Eighteen Months of Hire

- Peace Officer Employee must remain employed by the City as an Airport Public Safety Officer for at least two years after the probationary period ends. Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
