Clarificion from the agency Open to current permanent AVS Line of Business including AMA-200 employees Duties Help Has program responsibility to assure th assigned organizions meet Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulions (14 CFR) with respect to flight operions programs. Manages the program for all assigned aircraft. Assists in the establishment of work programs for inspection and surveillance. Flight Oversight ASIs do not conduct certificion (pilot evaluing, testing, and checking) job functions as a required crewmember, including safety pilot. The incumbent will not, in any scenario, act as a required crewmember or safety pilot of an aircraft. Flight Oversight ASIs apply a broad knowledge of the aviion industry, aviion safety, and Federal aviion laws, regulions, and policies.
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Principal Inspector or Supervisory Principal Inspector, accomplishes the following duties: A. Technical Administrion Within the Advanced Qualificion Program(s), assures on a continuing basis th certifice holders are properly and adequely organized, staffed, and equipped; have and conduct an adeque AQP including an acceptable record keeping system; and facilities and procedures th meet all regulory requirements. Regularly s the certifice holder¿s training facilities and other offices to maintain contact with their approprie management officials; coordines with the principal inspector for correction of any deficiencies/discrepancies. Coordines with AFS-280 on AQP applicion, development, approval, and continued operion as a member of the Extended Review Team (ERT). This includes decision-making on movement through the phases of AQP. Coordines with the certifice holder on da development, collection, and analysis of AQP. Coordines communicion between certifice holder and Certifice-Holding District Office (CHDO) on all issues of AQP. Coordines with certifice holder on instructor/evaluor calibrion. Participes in annual review of AQPs and associed da analysis. Coordines with the Principal Inspector and Aircrew Program Managers on management of Aircrew Designed Examiner (ADE) programs. Participes in quarterly or annual Instructor/Evaluor meetings for all fleets to ensure consistency, standardizion and applicable AQP regulions and guidance merial is observed and adequely applied. Chairs joint FAA-industry meetings; maintains regular contact with organizions assigned; and coordines with top management officials. Maintains expert knowledge of the assigned carriers' Indoctrinion, Qualificion, and Continuing Qualificion programs to ensure effective regulory oversight. Serves as the technical point of contact for approval of specialty curriculums and/or flight operions specificion approvals. Provides verbal and/or written technical assistance to legal counsel, testifies court trials and formal hearings, and gives depositions. Responsible for the conduct of enforcement investigions and preparion of final reports and recommendions on disposition. Responsible for coordining with Extended Review Team members and approprie Headquarters' AQP personnel reling to program approvals and general questions. Primary point of contact between the carrier and the CHDO for AQP issues and to ensure consistency and standardizion between fleets in curriculum approval and da analysis. B. Certificion Coordines with Principal Inspector and AFS-280 on initial applicion for AQP approval. Coordines with Principal Inspector and AFS-280 on review and approval of curriculum development and all subsequent phases of AQP approval. Coordines with the Principal Inspector to approve/accept or disapprove/reject AQP manuals and revisions to such manuals. Obtains amendments to previously approved manuals to accomplish the following: correct any conflict with regulory requirements; elimine unsafe practices; and/or improve the specificity of instruction. Ingrade/downgrade applicions accepted. Qualificions Basic Requirements. All applicants must meet the following basic requirements: a. Not more than two separe incidents involving Title 14 Code of Federal Regulions violions in the last five years; b. Valid Ste driver¿s license; c. Fluency in the English language; d. No chemical dependencies or drug abuse th could interfere with job performance; and e. High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Requirements . Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the ASI position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodion. The minimum medical requirements include the following: a. Have good distance vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed merials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted); b. Have the ability to hear the conversional voice (hearing aid permitted); and c. Not have any physical conditions th would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others or th would interfere with their ability to opere/occupy a flight deck observer¿s se (jumpse) or a cabin passenger se in a variety of aircraft. Air Carrier (Flight Oversight) Aviion Safety Inspector Qualificion Requirements. In addition to meeting the basic and medical requirements, applicants must meet the following additional qualificion requirements: a. At least one year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificed takeoff weight. b. Three years of experience working in an organizion with an air carrier, commercial operor, or air agency certifice, an organizion whose work led to the certificion of individual airmen, or an organizion th opered aircraft. At least one year of this experience must be with an organizion th opered multiengine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum takeoff weight. c. Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. d. Must hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certifice. e. Not more than two flying accidents during the last five years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved. To qualify for this position you must demonstre in your applicion th you possess least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the
FV-I, FG/GS-13.
