Job Description

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast is to ensure every child has mentors and champions in life.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE AND INTERFACES

Youth, Parents, Program Staff, General Manager, Operations Team Hours:
23 - 25 hours/week
MUST BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE AND PROVIDE AN OPEN/ CONSISTENT M-F SCHEDULE
unless otherwise approved.
Daily Hours Include:
1:00 PM / MINIMUM DAYS 12:30PM - 6:00PM
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Dual Driver / Mentor Coach plays a critical role in ensuring youth have a safe, supportive, and enriching after-school experience from the moment they are transported to the Club through their daily program participation. This position combines safe transportation responsibilities with direct youth development and mentoring, serving as a positive role model, educator, and leader. Staff are responsible for maintaining a safe transportation environment, delivering high-quality programming, and building meaningful relationships that support youth growth and success.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Commitment to Safety Implement and uphold all safety policies, procedures, and best practices Maintain Mandated Reporter certification and Child Abuse Prevention training Participate in emergency preparedness trainings and drills Promote a culture of safety through proactive communication and accountability 2. Transportation & Vehicle Safety Safely transport youth to and from Club sites, field trips, and events Maintain a safe, orderly environment on the bus/van through appropriate behavior management Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report mechanical issues Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and equipped with emergency supplies Maintain accurate logs including mileage, inspections, and incident reports 3. Youth Development & Program Delivery Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and structured activities Deliver curriculum aligned with Boys & Girls Club programming Ensure classroom cleanliness and organization at the end of each shift 2 of 4 Supervise and engage an assigned group of approximately 20-25 students 4. Mentorship & Role Modeling Serve as a positive, engaging adult role model through professionalism, reliability, and attitude Build strong mentor-mentee relationships that foster trust and growth Encourage positive behavior using reinforcement and effective behavior strategies Promote Club values: respect, effort, and fun 5. Program Leadership & Engagement Plan, organize, and prioritize program activities and deliverables Facilitate engaging group management and structured programming Adapt activities to meet diverse student needs and learning levels Support fitness, enrichment, and social-emotional development 6. Communication & Collaboration Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and leadership Maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians Work collaboratively within a team environment Support a culture of transparency, learning, and growth 7. Customer Service & Professionalism Demonstrate exceptional customer service with youth, families, and staff Maintain professionalism in all interactions and environments Represent the organization positively both on and off the bus 8. QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
(proof required with application submission): CA Class B License with Passenger Endorsement (min. 2 years) CA Special Driver's Certificate for School Bus or Youth Bus Drivers Current H-6 DMV printout Current Medical Examiner's Certificate 2. Must be a good role model for youth - lead by example Must be at least 21 years of age Knowledge of current safety and road regulations for the state of California Must report suspected child abuse in accordance with California law Must have experience working with youth Must successfully complete Live Scan background check and pass a pre-employment drug test Must be able to work in the United States Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as needed 3.
