Role:
The School Bus Driver
- Conventional plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and related activities.
This position requires a dedicated professional who can operate a conventional school bus while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws. The driver is responsible for maintaining a positive and secure environment for students during transit, demonstrating patience and attentiveness at all times. Additionally, the role involves performing routine vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical issues to ensure the bus remains in optimal condition. Ultimately, the School Bus Driver contributes significantly to the community by providing reliable transportation that supports students' educational experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus operation. Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents. Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screening. Knowledge of state and federal transportation safety regulations applicable to school buses. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience driving a conventional school bus or similar large passenger vehicle. Certification in first aid and CPR. Familiarity with local school district routes and traffic patterns. Training in student behavior management and emergency evacuation procedures. Bilingual abilities to communicate with diverse student populations.
Responsibilities:
Operate a conventional school bus safely and efficiently along designated routes and schedules. Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers by enforcing bus rules and maintaining order. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to identify and report any mechanical or safety concerns. Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with special needs, in a courteous and professional manner. Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, and any incidents or delays encountered during transportation.
