In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, including students, seniors, or community members, along designated routes while ensuring their safety and comfort. Your expertise in driving, customer service, and safety procedures will help create a positive travel experience for all riders. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing reliable transportation services in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities Safely operate various types of buses, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle mechanical soundness and readiness before each route. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting individuals with special needs or senior care requirements. Maintain order and enforce passenger behavior policies through effective behavior management techniques. Respond promptly to traffic changes, emergency situations, and stop requests using emergency response procedures for transportation. Communicate clearly with passengers using effective communication skills and multilingual abilities when needed. Complete accurate logs, incident reports, and vehicle inspection records in accordance with company policies and state/local laws. Qualifications Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) including passenger endorsement. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency stop procedures. First aid certification (CPR preferred) along with training in emergency response procedures for transportation. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage student discipline or passenger behavior effectively. Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems for basic troubleshooting and maintenance awareness. Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting passengers or handling equipment. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; multilingual skills are a plus. Familiarity with school policy knowledge and state/local commercial driving laws is preferred.
