Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Bus Driver to join our transportation team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, including students, seniors, or community members, along designated routes. Duties Safely operate various types of buses, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, following all traffic laws and safety regulations. Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition before each route. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring proper use of safety equipment. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and respond promptly to traffic changes or road hazards. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using radios or other communication devices. Enforce passenger behavior policies and manage student discipline or behavioral issues with professionalism. Complete accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and incident reports as required by company policies and local regulations. Qualifications Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus operation with a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency stop procedures. First aid certification (CPR preferred) and familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling luggage or mobility devices. Experience working with children or senior populations is highly desirable. Demonstrated understanding of student discipline policies and behavior management techniques. Excellent driving record with defensive driving skills; quick response to traffic changes essential.
