Job Summary Join The HMM Team as a
SCHOOL BUS
OPERATOR and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic role, you will operate school buses and paratransit vehicles, transporting children with care, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Your dedication will help foster a positive experience for young learners and community members alike, promoting safety and comfort on every trip. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing valuable driving and customer service skills. Responsibilities Daily split shifts 1st Shift starts at 6:20am to 830-9am / 2ndShift:
3:30pm to 5:30-6pm (route dependent) Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations Transport students, and sometimes staff to and from designated locations efficiently and punctually Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each route Communicate clearly with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using excellent communication skills in English or bilingual formats Manage behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques to ensure a safe environment for all passengers Assist children with boarding, seating arrangements, and exiting the vehicle as needed, demonstrating compassion and childcare skills Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, and safety checks while completing shift reports diligently Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents by following established protocols and coordinating with emergency responders when necessary This is a contract position - employees are compensated for days worked - holiday pay is not available Experience (Preferred not Required) Previous experience in bus driving or commercial driving is highly preferred; familiarity with school bus driving or paratransit services is a plus Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse communities Experience working with children, demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent childcare capabilities Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems which helps in performing routine inspections, basic troubleshooting and work order completion Proven ability to manage behavior effectively in a group setting, ensuring passengers safety Valid CDL Class A or B driver's license with passenger/school bus endorsement suitable for operating large vehicles Experience in customer service or teaching enhances your ability to engage positively with passengers of all ages Drug Free work place (Drug test Required) Join us and embark on a rewarding and successful journey by becoming a HMM Team member—where safety meets service excellence!Pay:
