Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, to transport passengers efficiently and securely. Your commitment to safety, excellent customer service, and adherence to traffic laws will ensure a positive experience for all riders. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vans in accordance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, boarding, and alighting procedures, ensuring comfort and safety for individuals with mobility needs. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid protocols when necessary. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective communication skills to provide timely updates and respond to passenger inquiries. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning of brakes, lights, signals, and other critical systems before each trip. Enforce student discipline policies when transporting children, ensuring a safe environment onboard at all times. Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays by adjusting routes efficiently while keeping passengers informed. Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. Proven experience driving buses or similar large vehicles, including school bus driving or transit bus operation. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at state and local levels. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment as needed. Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, child behavior management, and basic first aid including CPR certification. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Experience working with children or senior care is highly desirable.
