School Bus _Van Driver Cirrus Academy Charter School Macon, GA Job Details Part-time $12 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Route driving Passenger Endorsement CDL High school diploma or GED Driver's License Decision making Defensive driving Full Job Description School Bus_Van Driver Job Description Position Title School Van Driver Reports To Director of Operations Job Summary The School Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school-related events. The driver must maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment while ensuring compliance with all traffic laws, school policies, and transportation regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely operate a school van to transport students according to assigned routes and schedules. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly. Ensure students are picked up and dropped off at designated locations. Maintain student safety during loading, transportation, and unloading. Monitor student behavior and report disciplinary concerns to school administration. Maintain accurate transportation records, including mileage, inspections, and incident reports. Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations. Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and administrators regarding transportation matters. Assist students as needed when entering or exiting the vehicle. Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle. Respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow established safety procedures. Attend required training sessions and meetings. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to meet all state and local requirements for student transportation. Successful completion of required background checks and drug screening. Previous experience transporting students or driving passenger vehicles preferred. Knowledge of safe driving practices and vehicle operation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong commitment to student safety. Ability to follow schedules and routes accurately. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations. Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to assist students entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary. Ability to perform vehicle inspections, including bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a vehicle and outdoors under varying weather conditions. May require early morning, afternoon, evening, or occasional weekend hours depending on school activities.
