Job Focus:
Enhance student achievement by providing mail service and safely transport students and staff.
Line of Supervision:
Responsible to and evaluated by the Director of Special Education and Chief School Business Official.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Transports children to and from schools in and out of the district as assigned. 2. Transports children on other special occasions to and from district schools. 3. Transports children home from district schools in the event they become ill, suspension, or miss their regular bus, if no other means of transportation is available. Schools must provide a monitor on the bus route if leveraging this support. 4. Transports district mail and packages to and from schools as necessary. 5. Keeps accurate records of daily mileage. 6. Sees that the vehicle is cleaned and serviced according to schedule established by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. 7. Informs Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds of any concerns with vehicle maintenance or service. 8. Informs Principals of any discipline or parental concerns. 9. Informs Director of Special Education of any scheduling concerns. 10. Guards the confidentiality of all district information. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal. 11. Perform such other duties as may be requested by the Director of Special Education and Chief School Business Official within the scope of this job description.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must be 21 years of age or older 2. Hold a valid and properly classified driver's license issued by the Illinois Secretary of State. 3. Must pass a yearly drug test and physical fitness examination performed by a licensed Physician. 4. Must hold a valid Illinois School Bus Driver permit.
