4/21/2026 QUALIFICATIONS Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law. Valid Kentucky Commercial Class B driver's license, including passenger, school bus and air brake endorsement. Must pass a driving record check. Possess Driver Trainer Certification with the division of Pupil Transportation. Must pass CDL Physical.
POSITION SUMMARY
Deliver classroom, behind-the-wheel, and annual training programs for school bus drivers. Support driver development by providing instruction, coaching, and feedback to ensure safe driving practices and compliance with district and state requirements. Maintain qualifications as a bus driver and support operational needs as assigned.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide behind-the-wheel training and classroom instruction as assigned. Assist with preparation and delivery of annual in-service training programs. Support new driver onboarding activities. Demonstrate safe driving techniques and reinforce district expectations. Provide guidance and encouragement to drivers during training activities. Model appropriate student management and safety practices. Communicate training observations to the Safety & Training Coordinator. Assist with preparation of training materials and equipment. Maintain qualifications consistent with the Bus Driver job description and perform assigned driving duties Assist with departmental needs related to driver instruction and training events. Maintain CDL qualifications and Trainer Certification. Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth. Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance. Maintain appropriate professional appearance. Adhere to the appropriate code of ethics. Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of safe school bus driving practices and student management procedures. Knowledge of instructional techniques used during behind-the-wheel training. Ability to demonstrate proper driving techniques and communicate clearly with trainees. Ability to follow established training plans and provide feedback to leadership staff. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with drivers and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism during training activities. Ability to follow established training plans and deliver consistent instruction aligned with district standards. Operate a school bus over designated routes. Maintain accurate records.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to enter and exit the bus through all emergency exits. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds. Exposure to moving machinery, dust, fumes, gases, and changes in temperature.
