Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Durand Area School District as a full-time School Bus Driver. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for students while adhering to all traffic laws and district policies. Responsibilities Safely operate a school bus to transport students to and from designated locations. Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition. Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any changes. Enforce safety rules and regulations, ensuring that all students are seated and wearing seatbelts when applicable. Assist students with boarding and disembarking from the bus, especially those with special needs. Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate authorities promptly. Attend required training sessions and meetings as scheduled by the school district. Maintain accurate records of daily routes, student counts, and any incidents that occur during transportation. Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience driving a bus or working with children preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations related to school bus operation. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. First Aid and CPR certification is a plus. Flexibility to work early morning and late afternoon hours, as well as occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
