Substitute Bus Driver

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Substitute Bus Driver. This on-call position involves providing safe and reliable transportation for students across the district. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student safety, possess excellent driving skills, and be able to adapt to various routes and schedules as needed. Responsibilities Operate school buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met. Monitor student behavior while on the bus, promoting a safe and respectful environment. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation issues and schedules. Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and student attendance. Respond to emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and effectively. Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed of best practices and district policies. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bus interior and exterior. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. Minimum of 7 years of driving experience, preferably in a school or public transportation setting. Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage student behavior and address conflicts effectively. First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by district policy.
