The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting passengers to their destinations while providing excellent customer service. This full-time position requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and adherence to all traffic laws and regulations. Responsibilities Safely operate a bus along designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking, including individuals with disabilities. Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, ensuring a comfortable environment for passengers. Monitor and manage passenger behavior to ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere. Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members regarding route changes, delays, or emergencies. Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and guidelines. Keep accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and any incidents or accidents. Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns from passengers. Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required. Requirements - The district will train the right candidate Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of driving experience, preferably with a large vehicle or bus. Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability to assist passengers and perform necessary vehicle inspections. Commitment to providing a safe and positive experience for all passengers. Hourly pay rate and benefits are commensurate with the current NHTA (New Haven Transportation Association) Collective Bargaining Agreement . Relevant experience will be considered when determining the final pay rate.
