Job Description
General Summary:
The Fixed Route CDL Bus Operator is responsible for the safe transportation of passengers byoperating any type of public transit vehicle on fixed route services, services running on a schedule,and any other services that are not paratransit/demand-response services.Essential Job Functions:
1. Observe all state and municipal traffic laws. (40%)2. Assure proper fares are deposited, report defective equipment, utilized appropriate radioprocedures, and exercise defensive driving. (40%)3. Record information, such as passenger counts, transfers collected, mileage and time cards,defect inspections, and accident and incident reports. (10%)4. Provide outstanding customer service, assist and advise passengers. (10%)5. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor and/or the Senior Manager ofTransportation.Position Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalentMust possess a valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with the proper endorsements for publictransit service.Provide neat, professional, courteous service.
Load wheelchairs and lift up to 50 pounds.
Experience:
One to Three (1-3) years experience as a Bus Operator.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
Qualified candidates for this position will have a work history, which demonstrates personalinitiative in, and ownership of, assigned areas of responsibility. Additionally, qualified candidatesmust demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:Knowledge1. Knowledge of principles and methods of public transport, including relative costs and benefits.2. Knowledge relevant principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
