Opportunity to earn additional hours above the 35-hour guarantee through charter trips Consistent weekday schedule with paid standby time Variety of charter trips and driving assignments Charter Driver Schedule & Responsibilities The Charter Driver will serve as our primary driver for scheduled charter trips and will also provide backup coverage for regular CDL school bus routes when needed. When not assigned to a route or charter, the Charter Driver will report to our facility for scheduled standby coverage:
Morning Standby:
6:30 AM - 8:30
AM Afternoon Standby:
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Backup route coverage is generally limited, as our regular CDL drivers have assigned routes. When charter trips are scheduled, the Charter Driver will complete those assignments in addition to their regular standby responsibilities. Actual charter hours worked are paid in addition to the driver's regular guaranteed schedule, providing an opportunity to earn more than 35 hours per week. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ CDL School Bus Driver Duties Safely operate school buses in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to transport students to and from school and related activities. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels. Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting students with special needs. Maintain order on the bus by enforcing student discipline policies while fostering a respectful environment. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear language and multilingual skills if applicable. Ensure passenger safety at all times by adhering to emergency stop procedures, passenger safety protocols, and transportation safety regulations. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required; experience in school bus driving preferred. DOT Card Experience working with children or in educational settings is highly desirable. Demonstrated commitment to transportation safety regulations and student discipline policies.
