Outdoors and Transportation Assistant (CDL Class)REPORTS TO

$17•$20 commensurate upon experienceHOURS:
Afterschool:
10•29 hours per week/essential hours of duty: 2:30pm•4:40pmSummer Camp:

Responsible for driving club vehicles to transport members and staff over specified routes to local or distant points according to time and schedule. When not actively driving routes or maintaining club vehicles, this individual will be responsible for assisting with club programming when needed.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Transport Students, Staff, and Club members to off-site field trips and activities using a full-sized activity bus or smaller passenger vehicles as appropriate. Abide by all traffic laws. Assist with group management during off-site field trips with members, including outdoor activities. Assist Club members getting on and off vehicles. Keep all Club vehicles organized and clean Complete a safety inspection of vehicles before and after each trip. Keep all vehicles up to date with maintenance. Assist with or facilitate youth-centered programming. Transport Club members from school to the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau for afterschool programs. Ensure the safety of all Club members. Drive staff shuttle to Western Carolina University (when shuttle is provided)RELATIONSHIPS
Develop authentic and meaningful relationships with Club members, staff, and volunteers. Maintain confidentiality in regard to staff, volunteer, member, and family matters. Work with staff to ensure that program areas are safe, that equipment is maintained in good working condition and that repair needs are reported immediately.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively participate in BGCA training, internal training, and other development opportunities. Clean vehicles as needed. Assist with various facilities maintenance tasks as needed. Fill in at a Club as needed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires the physical strength and agility to safely perform all essential functions, especially the operation of both passenger and commercial motor vehicles. The position also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment without assistance, and sit or stand for long periods. Be able to pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check upon employment offer.QUALIFICATIONS
Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Have a valid driver's license. A CDL (Class B, Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements) license is preferred; or be willing and able to participate in training to secure said CDL license. Have a minimum of 1 year experience driving an activity bus or passenger van, preferred. Have a clean driving record in the last two years. Have the ability to work regular Club hours, evenings, and some events. Be dependable, driven, dedicated, and motivated. Be uplifting, flexible, and creative.
