In this vital role, you will operate a van to transport a child from home to school and back. Your dedication to safety, excellent communication , and adherence to traffic laws will ensure a smooth and secure journey for every rider. This position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact daily while working in a fast-paced, rewarding environment. Duties Safely operate Class C vehicles such as vans, school buses in accordance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid when necessary. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective communication skills to respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments. Enforce student discipline policies and behavior management strategies during transportation of children or students. Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with vehicle codes and safety standards; report any maintenance issues promptly. Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs courteously, including multilingual communication when applicable. Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class C with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit bus driving preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are advantageous. Basic writing skills for completing reports and logs accurately. Knowledge of child behavior management and school policy knowledge is beneficial.
