School Bus Driver/School Monitor (7.25 hrs/day) The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a reliable, safety-minded, and student-focused School Bus Driver/School Monitor to join our team.
This dual-role position includes:
School Bus Driver (5 hours/day): Safely transporting students to and from school on an assigned route while maintaining a safe and positive bus environment. School Monitor (2.25 hours/day) -
Stevens:
Supervising students during non-instructional times such as lunch, recess, and hallway transitions to ensure a safe and respectful school environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and enjoys working with children in both transportation and school settings.

FEATURES OF THE CLASS
This position involves responsibility for the operation of a school bus in the transporting of children to and from school-related activities. A school bus driver is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway, allowing the operator to carry out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving and road conditions; ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with children and command their respect; mechanical aptitude.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(A) Applicants are expected to obtain a School Bus ("S") endorsement permit within one month of appointment and secure the full School Bus ("S") endorsement on their driver's license within three months of start date. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and meet all qualifications established for school bus drivers under the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
SCHOOL MONITOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Patrols school halls, stairwells, restrooms, courtyards, entrances, parking lots, and other parts of school buildings and grounds to protect persons and property, maintain order, and ensure compliance with school rules; Supervises students passing between classes, locker rooms, and on school premises immediately before and after school; Assists school personnel in maintaining order in classrooms and cafeterias; Does related work as required.
