None Job Summary:
Bus Drivers play an integral part of our community and educational process. They are committed to safely transport students to and from school. Beginning and ending each school day by providing a supportive, caring and safe environment.Responsibilities:
- Follows a planned bus route making scheduled stops to transport children to and from school while obeying all rules and regulations.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Communicates with the dispatcher via two-way radio during the route; provides updates to the dispatcher and reports delays, mechanical failure, emergencies, change in traffic patterns, or accidents.
- Provide written records of violations of the student code to the Transportation Dispatcher.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keep the assigned bus clean.
- Keep to an assigned schedule.
- Perform a Pre and Post DOT inspection before and after each operation for mechanical defects.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students and School Department staff.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous bus driving experience is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Excelled interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
Education:
- Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
Certification & Licensing:
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract specific Bus Driver requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting while operating the bus.
- Must pass drug screen and physical exam in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.
