Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Bus Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, including students, seniors, or community members, along designated routes while ensuring their safety and comfort. Your expertise in driving, customer service, and safety protocols will help create a positive travel experience for all riders. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by providing reliable and professional transportation services. Responsibilities Operate various types of buses, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, adhering strictly to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Safely pick up and drop off passengers at designated stops while maintaining punctuality and route schedules. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including providing wheelchair assistance and managing behavior to ensure passenger safety. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid when necessary. Communicate effectively with passengers using clear language; handle customer inquiries professionally and courteously. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance issues promptly. Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and safety checks in accordance with company policies and state regulations. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport; knowledge of vehicle codes and traffic laws. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation; familiarity with transportation safety regulations is essential. Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, CPR certification preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse communities. Experience working with children or seniors; strong behavior management skills are highly valued. Demonstrated defensive driving skills and quick response to traffic changes to ensure passenger safety at all times. Understanding of school policy knowledge related to student discipline and passenger conduct. Ability to perform routine vehicle checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness; adherence to all transportation safety standards is mandatory.
