Job Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. Duties Safely operate school buses, motor coaches, or shuttle vehicles on designated routes, including city streets and residential neighborhoods. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety and proper maintenance. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting, including those with special needs or requiring additional support. Follow all transportation safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) and state transportation laws, to ensure passenger safety at all times. Communicate effectively with dispatch using two-way radios for driver updates, route changes, or emergency situations. Navigate traffic laws confidently while driving in adverse weather conditions or challenging traffic environments. Maintain accurate logs of trips, vehicle inspections, and any incidents or safety concerns during your shift. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance needs. Proven experience in bus driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driving with a focus on safety and customer service. Knowledge of paratransit services and passenger assistance techniques for individuals with special needs. Expertise in city street navigation, traffic laws, air brake systems, and commercial driving regulations. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with passengers, colleagues, and dispatchers. Ability to operate vehicles equipped with features like air brakes and adhere strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Demonstrated defensive driving skills and the ability to drive safely in adverse weather conditions. Familiarity with vehicle inspections, maintenance procedures, and vehicle safety standards.
