Additional pay opportunities for extra routes during and after school (I.E. field trips, athletic games, etc.)

Position Description:
Transports Colonial Beach Public Schools students. May also be asked to assist with field trips. Qualifications
Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the school bus passenger, and air brake endorsements.
Must be able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
Must present a current DMV transcript of driver history (issued within the past 30 days).
Must possess a current School Bus Driver's Physician's Certificate.
Must consent to a background check.
Reports to Coordinator of Transportation Services
Essential Functions:
Drives a school bus; picking up and delivering students to and from school. Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to the Virginia Department of Education (8VAC20 - 70-380) guidelines. Maintains safety equipment; reports unsafe bus conditions. Adheres to the preventive maintenance schedule. Completes required forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner. Adheres to and complies with safety rules, motoring regulations, and laws. Loads bus according to established procedures, follows designated route schedule, and stops at authorized stops only.
Notifies supervisor(s) of bus breakdowns or deviations in the schedule. Ensures all pupils are accounted for and all runs are covered. Reports all operating and equipment deficiencies. Cleans bus inside and out; fuels bus as required.
Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for school bus operations.
Transports only authorized students. Reports all accidents and completes required reports. Transports students to special events and field trips.
Ensures passenger safety; maintains discipline on bus. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Duties are performed on a school bus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud noise levels; fumes or airborne particles; noxious odors; vibrations from driving a bus; and traffic. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; use foot controls to drive; reach with hands and arms; climb; bend, stoop, and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must be physically able to perform and demonstrate emergency evacuation procedures. This includes the pushing/pulling of up to 50 pounds. In addition have the ability to use emergency exits at any location on the bus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, night/dusk vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
