This is a part-time, hourly, and benefited position. Position description The School Bus Driver is often the first person a child sees on their way to school. The School Bus Driver, therefore, is essential to our school's ecosystem, and the warm attitude and patient spirit with which the School Bus Driver welcomes each and every student is key to this partnership. The School Bus Driver is a kind and steady presence, conscious of the health and safety of the students in their charge, and diligent in communication, timing, and responsibility. The School Bus Driver is comfortable and enjoys the sound of students laughing and playing on the bus, and is able to manage these distractions while focusing on the road. The School Bus Driver must be available to shuttle the regular morning and afternoon routes as well as frequent assignments for transporting students to field trips and activities, and must ensure that all students are safely and successfully delivered to and from school. Annie Wright buses are 21' to 27' long and carry a maximum of 29 friendly and eager students. Currently, the maximum number of stops per route is three.
Position Overview:
Duties and Responsibilities The School Bus Driver:
- Drives safely along designated routes
- Obeys traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations
- Picks up and drops off students at designated times and locations
- Transports students to and from athletic activities in the afternoons
- Assists all students with getting on and off the bus as required
- Prevents or stops unruly behavior from students and ensures the safety of all students
- Communicates with families via WhatsApp and the school regarding delays or any issues along a route
- Fills the gas tank of the bus when needed
- Always maintains a clean and mechanically sound bus
- Attends staff meetings and participates in professional development, as required Qualifications The School Bus Driver will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences.

The School Bus Driver:
- Holds a high school diploma or GED
- Has 1+ years' experience driving a school bus
- Is able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Has some experience working with children (preferably 2+ years) In addition, the Bus Driver must have:
- A valid Washington State driver's license, including CDL with passenger endorsements
- The ability to carry out the assigned route on time
- No at-fault traffic accidents in the last five years
- Clean driving record (no traffic citations in the last five years)
- A current Medical Examiner's Certificate; and
- is eligible to work in the United States.
